This Privacy Policy describes how Akinio LLC ("Akinio", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you visit akinio.io, create an account, use the Akinio platform, or otherwise interact with Akinio (collectively, the "Service").
This Privacy Policy is incorporated into and forms part of the Akinio Terms of Service at akinio.io/terms.
1. Scope
1.1 Who this applies to. This Privacy Policy applies to individuals who visit akinio.io, create an Akinio account, use the Service, or otherwise interact with Akinio.
1.2 Children. The Service is not directed to and may not be used by anyone under the age of 18. Akinio does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
1.3 What this does not cover. This Privacy Policy does not cover information practices of third-party services that integrate with the Service. Third-party providers operate under their own privacy policies, linked from akinio.io/processors and summarized in Section 5.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Account information you provide
When you create an account, we collect:
- Your name (or chosen display name)
- Your email address
- Authentication credentials (typically managed by Clerk)
- Optional profile information you choose to provide (organization name, avatar, etc.)
2.2 Payment information
When you subscribe to a paid tier or make a one-off purchase, our payment processor Stripe collects payment card details, billing address, and transaction history.
Akinio does not directly store payment card numbers. Stripe processes payments and we receive only tokenized references, billing receipts, and transaction status.
2.3 User Content you upload
When you upload User Content (prompts, reference images, reference videos, audio files, product assets, brand materials), we collect and store that content to provide the Service to you. User Content ownership and licensing is governed by the Terms of Service.
2.4 Generated Output
When the Service produces Generated Output in response to your prompts, we store the output in your account. Generated Output that meets specific reusability criteria may be incorporated into a shared library where it serves as a starting reference for other users' generations (see Section 4.4).
2.5 Usage data
When you use the Service, we automatically collect:
- IP address (used for security, abuse prevention, and approximate geographic localization)
- Browser type, operating system, device identifier
- Pages viewed, features used, time of access
- Generation operations performed (which engine, which template, credit cost)
- Errors and crash reports (collected via Sentry)
- Cookies and similar technologies (see Section 7)
2.6 Communications
When you contact us, we collect the content of your communications and any information you choose to provide.
2.7 Information from third parties
We may receive limited information from:
- Identity providers (Clerk may pass us your email and verified-email status)
- Payment processors (Stripe may notify us of payment status changes)
- AI engine providers (where applicable, status updates on generation jobs)
We do not buy personal information from data brokers, ad networks, or similar sources.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information described in Section 2 to:
3.1 Provide and operate the Service — process your generations, store your content, render your videos, deliver Generated Output, maintain your account, process subscription billing.
3.2 Maintain security and prevent abuse — detect fraud, abuse, and violations of the Acceptable Use Policy.
3.3 Provide customer support — respond to your questions, troubleshoot issues.
3.4 Improve the Service — analyze usage patterns to identify bugs, prioritize features. Analysis is performed on aggregate or de-identified data wherever possible.
3.5 Communicate with you — send service-related messages and optional marketing messages where you have consented.
3.6 Comply with legal obligations — respond to lawful requests; enforce our Terms; comply with tax, accounting, and regulatory obligations.
3.7 Operate the Library Compounding shared library — when your Generated Output meets the reusability criteria, we may use it as described in Section 4.4. The recipient never sees identifying information about your account.
What we DO NOT do with your information
To be explicit:
- We do not train AI models on your data. The AI engines we use are third-party services accessed via API. Akinio does not operate proprietary trained AI models.
- We do not sell your personal information. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information for monetary or other valuable consideration.
- We do not share your User Content with other users. Your User Content (uploads) is private to your account. Only the limited Library Compounding mechanism described in Section 4.4 allows certain Generated Output to be served as a starting reference to other users.
- We do not display advertising to you on the Service. The Service is ad-free.

8. Data Retention
8.1 Active accounts. While your account is active, your account information, User Content, and Generated Output are retained according to your subscription tier's storage limits. Generated Output is subject to a per-tier output-retention window after which the output is automatically deleted from active storage: Free 7 days, Lite 14 days, Starter 30 days, Pro 60 days, Business 90 days, Agency 90 days, Enterprise as negotiated. Upgrade within your current window promotes existing outputs to the new tier's retention period. Backups may persist beyond the active-storage retention window per Section 8.2.
8.2 Post-termination. After account termination, we may retain your data for up to ninety (90) days. Backups may persist for up to one (1) year.
8.3 Library Compounding entries. Generated Output incorporated into the shared library is subject to the eviction policy in Terms of Service Section 13.4.
8.4 Legal-hold retention. Where applicable law requires us to retain certain records, we will retain those records for the period required by law.
9. Data Security
9.1 Security measures. We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your personal information. These include encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest where supported, access controls, multi-factor authentication for administrative access, security monitoring via Sentry, and regular review of subprocessor security practices.
9.2 No system is perfectly secure. Despite our safeguards, no internet transmission or data storage system can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.
9.3 Breach notification. If we discover a personal data breach affecting your information that is likely to result in a risk to your rights or freedoms, we will notify you and the relevant regulatory authorities as required by applicable law.
